Alabaster The Good The Bad And The Bird Issue 1 Review

This is a hard issue to figure out what the main fictional genre is for the narrative. It has a lot of religious quotes but they are used in a method similar to Vertigo's Preacher. There are references to ancient myths, such as the "Maze Of The Minotaur," that are not in the Christian theologies. Also there are apparently weird criminals who may or may not be supernatural monsters. However the flow of the writing is good overall despite this genre related conundrum.

As for the art it is very visceral in terms of the more disgusting elements in one of the settings. The color palette comes across as somewhat angry and/or hopeless depending on the scene. Finally the cover logo font is pretty amazing looking.

My verdict: Recommended strictly for 18 and up readers who are not easily offended.
