Britannia Issue 1 Review With Spoilers

Warning Of Spoilers!

This is definitely not the standard kind of comic from Valiant. Whether that is a good or a bad thing is hard to say with just this issue alone. Though I can say that the only real flaws are in the first few pages. These flaws are the lack of panel bordering and how the lettering does not account for the marble background. The rest of the story is high quality work that shows great attention to detail in the text and visuals. Finally the scholarly aspects of this work are best exemplified in the supplemental text pages at the end.

Recommended for those looking for a more mature period piece of sequential art. Also recommended for scholars of history, art, or culture.

On a personal note as a self-professed comic scholar I found this to be a very intriguing multi-layered read.
