Valiant High Issue 1 Review With Spoilers

Warning Of Spoilers!

This issue has some standard, yet unique takes on alternate reality/reimagined versions of known characters being put in a high school setting. It is standard in the sense that it is very cliched and goes for a lot of the obvious jokes/gags. However, instead of being a mix of "classic" Archie and Jason Aaron's Wolverine & The X-Men there are so far very few powers displayed. This is where the unique comes in. Students are not allowed to use their powers in the school setting. As for the what, why, and how this happens I will leave to those who want to read this Comixology exclusive.

As for flaws this comic has only one and it is slightly glaring. The character summaries are included on the summary page and in the comic. It would not be a major problem if we knew who was narrating the character summaries. One would assume it was Livewire yet it seems possible it is someone else. Also said summaries do not need to be on the summary page since they are included and are more visible in story.

Overall I think this is so far an interesting story with good art and a nicely selected, and applied, color palette.
