Robotech (2017) Issue 7 Review With Spoilers

Warning Of Spoilers!

The colors provide by Marco Lesko are negatively impacted in certain areas by the shading done by artist Marco Turini. Also the editor, Martin Eden, allows a little too much negative space to be shown during the more experimental panels. Personally now that I am used to the experimental panels I do think they provide an interesting time-lapse. Overall though I think the visuals are mostly fine.

As for the text it is a little cramped at times, but not to the point of obscuring the art. Though I have to give kudos to both Simon Furman and Jim Campbell for making the ellipses less noticeable. Also the singing Minmei is so brief that it does not hurt the issue. Finally the script throws a haymaker of a twist to this reboot. It is so mind-blowing it makes me almost want to change my opinion on the first issues (collected in Robotech: Countdown).

  Very Recommended!
